We have a William Everingham, son of James & Nancy (Matthews) Everingham of Crowland, Ontario.

Now... this weekend (July 2005), I found two Williams living in the same township, in Welland Co., about the same age.

I'm not even sure who the second William Everingham is, but it is very possible that he is the actual son of James & Nancy, not the one that we previously thought. (Crowland, Welland, Ontario CENSUS below) William Everingham, 44, farmer, Margaret, 43, Wm. James 18, Ellen Victoria, 15, Maggie Jane, 13, Oscar Harvey, 11, James Everingham, age 76 (William’s father). All born in Onatario, C. Methodist religion. This William’s family is listed as Irish. The father "James" seems to fit with the William that we know of, but some may fit better with the William family below:

William Everingham, 43, farmer, Mary Ann, 43, Elmon Ward, 16, Austin Jacob, 15, Minnie Jame, 12, Edward Martin, 10, Roland Burwell, 7, Wm. Victor, 4, Alice Maria, 11/12, born May. All listed as English origin and all born in Ontario. All C. Methodist religion. (I don't believe that I have any of these people listed on the family site)

Ontario Archives Page 62A William Everingham, 24 of Chinguacousy, born in Crowland, son of James & Nancy, married Mary McCarthy, 22 of same place born in Toronto Twp., dau of Samuel & Margaret, Witnesses; Mary Jane Taggart & Thomas Black, date; 12 June 1861. This is our William for sure, married to a "Mary".

more confusion: I found a death record #30298, William Everingham died 20 Jul 1908 at Thorold Twp, Welland, Ontario, age 71, born 1837 at Crowland, father: James Everingham, mother; Phoebe Stringer.

From the research of Esther Summers, she shows William Everingham of Crowland married a Margaret McCAULEY. We previously thought that these were the same women, but as the census data was found, showing a William with a Mary, and a William with a Margaret, these may very well be two families about the same age with about the same wife's name (again).

If this is correct, then we probably have the wrong children listed under William (link above). At best, we (I) have some of the information blended together on the family web site. Can some of you help me sort this mess out?

At the very least, we have a 2nd William Everingham of Crowland that I have never heard of. Does anyone know who this 2nd William Everingham is?

Or... do you have any input for me or ideas? This is confusing.
