2017 Obitury: Richard L. "Dick" Dilley, 78, Higgins Lake, died Aug. 20, 2017, in Gerrish Township. A funeral service was held Aug. 23, at Walsh Funeral Home, Roscommon, with the Rev. Father Richard Schaeffer officiating.

Born March 21, 1939, in Lansing, he was the son of Archie and Madeline Irene (Whitehead) Dilley. Previously of Haslett, he had been a full time Higgins Lake resident for 20 year and spent his summers there since 1973.

He married Sharon L. Johntson Aug. 22, 1959 in Lansing. He had been a commercial heating and cooling installer for Daily Heating and Air Conditioning in Lansing. He was a member of the Grayling Sportsman's Club, National Rifle Association, Capital City Rifle Club and Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 7 Zone 1. Preceding him in death were his parents.

Surviving are his wife; children, Richard J. Dilley of Higgins Lake and Denise (Kevin) Sherman of Haslett; grandchildren, Grant and Shane Sherman of Haslett; and sister, Susanne (Mike) Johnson of Haslett.


2019 obituary: Sharon L. Dilley, age 78, of Roscommon, died peacefully on April 24, 2019 in Lansing, Michigan.

She was born January 10, 1941 in St. Ignace, Michigan, the daughter of Ben and Ann Johnston.

Sharon married Richard Dilley on August 22, 1959 in Lansing, Michigan. Sharon will be remembered for being a shopaholic. She enjoyed spending time at Higgins Lake and with her grandsons.

Sharon will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her children: Richard J. Dilley of Haslett, Michigan and Denise (Kevin) Sherman of Haslett, Michigan; grandsons: Grant (Ashley) Sherman and Shane Sherman; her brother and sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard L., a brother and a sister as well as two nephews.

Family and friends will gather for a Memorial Mass on Friday, May 3, 2019, at 1:00 PM, with an hour of visiting prior to the Mass, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 104 North 6th Street, Roscommon, Michigan 48653. The Reverend Father Jerry Hunko will be officiating.
