fact sources and writings about this individual:
Research of Kevin Everingham of MI, 2022

Is this the same Mary A. DEY?
1860 US CENSUS Monroe township, Middlesex, NJ.. "David J. Dey 49,.. Mary 46,.. Martha 20,.. William H. 18,.. Sophia V. 16,.. George 14,.. Mary A. 12, born about 1848.. Charles W 9,.. Daniel S 7,.. Simeon P 4,.. Lelah C 2. (all born in New Jersey)"
NOTE There was also a Mary A. Dey in the 1860 Census of Monroe, Middlesex, NJ living with Garret Applegate 70, and Mary Applegate 64, presumably grandparents. There were several Mary DEY's in New Jersey this same age. Of the MANY Mary Dey's in New Jersey at this time, these 2 above seem to be the closest probable matches but are not certain. It could help considerably to have a marriage record but I have not found one.

1862 U.S. Civil War records "Pvt. Peter Everingham (Co. C) 29th Regiment NJV Infantry, Mustered in 9-20-1862, Mustered out 6-30-1863. Fernwood Cemetery, Middlesex, NJ shows d.23 Feb 1903."

1890 Middlesex County Birth index.. "female Everingham, born 28 Oct 1890 at Middlesex, New Jersey, d/o Peter Everingham 57 & Mary A. Dey 40"

1895 STATE CENSUS Cranbury township, Middlesex, NJ (Page 12 family #77).. "Peter Everingham age over 60, Mary E. Everingham, age category; 20-60." This is the only time I find her middle initial as E. This could be a transcription error (most likely) or the wrong family.

1903 Veteran's Administration Master Index,.. "Peter Everingham, born 1832, entered as a Private, mustered out as a Private., Enlistment; August 25, 1862, Military honorably discharged; 30 June 1863 at Cranbury Township, Middlesex, NJ,.. died 10 Feb 1903. Unit= Co.C, 29th NJ Volunteer Infantry. ID #2549151. Pension filed Sept 11, 1884, Pension certificate #1025829."

Fernwood Cemetery Jamesburg, Middlesex, NJ.. Headstone = "Peter Everingham, Co.C 29 Reg NJ Vol, died Feb 23, 1903, aged 75 years." Strangely, he appears to be the only Everingham buried at this cemetery but there are over 20 DEY's burried here, including a Mary A Dey Emens - born 17 Oct 1848 in Union Valley, Middlesex, NJ, she died July 6, 1902 in Jamesburg, NJ. Did Mary remarry? (probably not, at least not this Mary) Mary A Dey buried in the same cemetery as Peter, may simply be a BIG cooincidence.. This Mary was married 20 Feb 1867 to James H. Emens, 1st Lt., Co.A, 14th NJ Vols. They had a baby girl the same year as Mary & Peter "1890" having a female born 20 August 1890, this couldn't be the same woman.
