    From the book "IMPACT" by Kevin Everingham 2023;
    Thomas was a bachelor as far as I can tell. A Thomas Everham was living in Warren, New Jersey in 1855, but I have no way to prove it was this same Thomas. At the veteran's home where he died, he listed himself as a shoemaker and his closest relative was Susan Everham, niece, from Salem, New Jersey. Just prior to the war, in 1860, he was 45 years old, born in New Jersey, living in Wilmington, Delaware, and listed as a Cordivann (Cordovan is a type of horse leather shoe). Other people living at his same address had this same occupation or were boot fitters. I'm guessing that his shoe making job or the war, took him to Pennsylvania, where he enlisted.
    Thomas mustered in to Company A of the 109th Pennsylvania volunteer infantry. He reports that he mustered in at Harper's Ferry, VA in 1862. The 109th were At Harper's Ferry by May 24, 1862 and attached to the 1st brigade. From his birth information, Thomas would have been around 50 years old when he entered service.

    Thomas was discharged August 14, 1865 at Augusta, Maryland. At that time he was part of the Pennsylvania Veteran Reserve Corp. He received a pension in late February, 1880. The veteran's home where he lived in the final two years of this his life, show that he was born about 1812 in Burlington, New Jersey.

    Thomas died November 7, 1886 in Ohio. He is buried at Dayton National Cemetery, Montgomery county, Ohio. This cemetery was established in 1867 as a place to inter veterans who died while under the care of the Central Branch of the National Asylum for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers. He was about age 74 and had lived at the home for veterans, since March 29, 1884.
