Marin Independent Journal
April 2003

John R. Everingham passed away peacefully in Novato, California on April 30, 2003, from pneumonia and after suffering many years with Alzheimers.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ann, and their four children, Karen Winston, Jay Everingham, Susan Everingham, and Jane Everingham O'Malley, along with their respective families including five grandchildren and two cats. John also leaves behind a younger sister, Nancy McClure; brother, Charles Everingham and their respective families.

Born in Fort Madison, Iowa along the Mississippi River, August 14, 1933, John quickly and easily learned to love fishing, camping, and the outdoors. These, as well as his enjoyment of music, a beautiful sunset, and a great bottle of wine, are gifts he gave his children.

A graduate of the University of Iowa with a BS and MS in chemical engineering, John was a wonderful family provider and husband. He spent 27 years of his business career working for the Chevron Chemical Company as a chemical engineer, retiring in 1985.

Remembered as a gracious and joyful host, with a charming smile, John will be missed by all his family and friends.

The family requests that any donations in John's name be sent to Hospice of Marin, 150 Nellen Avenue, Corte Madera, CA 94925.
