Leora M. Everingham

Leora M. Everingham Stierley, 93, of Carson City, passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Hearland Health Care Center, Ionia.
Leora was born Aug. 26, 1911, in Owosso, the daughter of William and Gertrude Beehler Morgan.
She married Raymond D. Everingham on June 25, 1928. She lived in Onaway for many years and while there she and her husband operated a grocery store. They moved to Lansing, where she worked for a short time for Kroger's. They moved to Carson City in 1957 and started R&L Grocery in Butternut and operated that store until 1970, when they retired. Raymond passed away in 1974 and Leora was remarried to Fred Stierley on Aug. 9, 1980. Leora enjoyed crocheting, crafts, square dancing and most especially spending time with her family.
Leora was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Raymond Everingham; second husband, Fred Stierley; daughter, Inez Bowers; son, Eugene Everingham; four brothers, William, Floyd, Joseph and Roy Morgan; and three sisters, Helen Wiggins, Josephine Morgan and Ann Harrington.
She is survived by three daughters, Lillian Hodge of Mason, Neva and Gerald Springsteen of Fenwick, Edith and Bob Lunger of Fort Meyers, Fla.; son, Marvin and Tarry Everingham of Sheridan; step-daughter, Maxine and Vaughn Zinkler of Eaton Rapids; 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday at Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home, Carson City, with the Rev. Larry Nalett officiating. Interment is in Bloomer Township Cemetery.
Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.


NOTE: daughter-in-law Clara Everingham, widow of Leora's son Eugene, was accidentally left off from the list of survivors.
