On Wednesday, April 26, 2006, Gerald O. Robinson passed from this life at his home in Bear Creek Township; he was 89.

The funeral service took place at 2 p.m. today, Monday, May 1, and was conducted by the Rev. James Mitchum of the Petoskey United Methodist Church.

Jerry was born Jan. 29, 1917, in Onaway, the son of Orson and Mary (Moore) Robinson. He grew up and attended school in the Onaway area.

In 1935, he married Inez Ruth Graves and she survives. Together they shared 71 loving years of marriage.

Jerry was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served with an anti-aircraft battery in the Southern Pacific Theater during World War II.

Jerry was a loving husband and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was fun-loving, had a great sense of humor, and was good with people; these were traits that served him well in business.

He was employed as an insurance agent with Prudential Life Insurance for many years. In business, he held himself to very high ethical standards. Every one of Jerry's clients knew that Jerry's word was gold and a simple handshake was as good as any contract.

Jerry was a member of the generation that went through the Great Depression. He understood the value of a dollar, and tried to instill in his children and grandchildren the importance of good honest hard work.

Jerry was a longtime member of the Petoskey United Methodist Church and the Petoskey-Bay View Country Club.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Inez, and by his son, George Robinson, of Naples, Fla., and Petoskey; four grandchildren, Lisa Anne Millen of Colorado Springs, Paul Robinson of Grand Rapids, Les-Lee Robinson of Petoskey and Jayelee Evans of Boyne City; his great-grandchildren, Matt Millen, Ashley Millen, Scott Millen and Margot Millen, Emilee Evans, Tanner Evans, and Jo'Lee Robinson.

Preceding Jerry in death were his son, Karl Eugene Robinson, and his sister, Jean Sorenson.
