1840 U.S. CENSUS
Various Townships, of Burlington, NJ

Hanover Township, Burlington, NJ

Transcribed research of Kevin Everingham of Michigan, 2019.. Some familiar names that may or may not be related include: (Page 1) Joseph Pettit, John Pancost,.. (Page 2) Samuel Barcalow,.. (Page 3) Joseph Emley, Samuel Lawrence, Newton Lawrence, Thomas Emley, George Platt, Tunis Emley, Daniel L. Platt, Charles Applegate, John Applegate,.. (Page 5) William Pancoast,.. (Page 6) William Hartshorn,.. (Page 7) Joseph Grant,.. (Page 8) Alfred Lawrence, Samuel Inman, Benjamin Shinn,.. (Page 9) Charles Ivins, Wright Hartshorn, Richard & Lewis Lippincott,.. (Page 10) Anthony Pettit, Ann & Joseph Hartshorn, M. Barclay

(Page 7, Everinghams)

William Eveingham, 1M 20-30,.. 1F 15-20,.. 1F 20-30.
Sarah Eveingham, 1F 18-20,.. 1F 50-60.
Joseph Evernham, 2M less than 5,.. 1M 20-30,.. 1F 20-30.

This William and probable wife are 20-30 meaning they were born 1810-1820, and had a teen 15+ living with them.. Sarah is a possible mother of the others on this page, and probably widowed she was 50-60, so she was born 1780 to 1790.. An 18 to 20 year old female was also living with her.. Joseph listed on the same page, appears to be a young couple the same age as William with 2 young boys under 5 years old.

The only other Everinghams that I find in the 1840 Census of Burlington, is David Everham of Springfield John of Northampton & William of Chesterfield, all in Burlington, New Jersey. At this point, it's pure speculation, but these may be siblings, and at least are extremely likely to be related in some way.

Springfield Township, Burlington, NJ

David Everham, 1M 20-30, 1F 20-30.

Chesterfield Township, Burlington, NJ

On the Pensioners for Revolutionary or Military services included in this township, it lists; William Everingham, age 93 .. This would give an estimated birth date of 1747! There are only 2 William Everinghams that I know of who were about this age and may have served in the American Revolution, but both were said to have died prior to this date. (William of Springfield) & (William of Monmouth). The Census listing is as follows;

William Everingham, 1M 90-100,.. 1F less than 5,.. 1F 5-10,.. 2F 10-15,.. 1F 30-40,.. 1F 70-80.
it appears that William and a spouse had a daughter or granddaughter and her girls living with them. This William from the 1840 Census, is likely the same one from the 1830 Census of Chesterfield, Burlington, NJ "William Everinham; 1M 80-90,.. 1F 60-70." .. It should be noted that a Henry Evernham with a large family was also present in Chesterfield in 1830, but was only 40-50 years old (born 1780s), a possible son of William.

Northampton Township, Burlington, NJ

John Everinham, 1M under 5,.. 1M 10-15,.. 1M 30-40,.. 2F 5-10,.. 1F 20-30.
