1850 Monmouth Democrat Newspaper, Oct 24, 1850.. "(Marriage Notices) Mr. Alfred Clayton marriage to Miss Margaret Evernham, both of Middlesex."

1860 US CENSUS Monroe Twp., Middlesex Co., NJ.. "Alfred Clayton 32, b.NJ,.. Margaret Clayton 26, b.NJ.. James B. Clayton 3, b.NJ." No William in this Census
1861 Not positive this is the same Alfred but location fits. Brainerd cemetery, Cranbury, Middlexex, NJ.. Alfred Clayton,b.1831, d.26 June 1861. - Newspaper article - "On Tuesday of last week, a farmer name of Alfred Clayton, residing at Prospect Plains, committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope in his barn. The act was committed early in the morning, and from conversations with his family, it seems to have been premeditated. Mr. Clayton was formerly very intemperate in his habits, but for the past five or six years had abstained from liquor until a few days previuos to his death. He leaves a wife and child."
Is this the same Margaret in the 1870 Census? RESEARCH CAUTION this is all speculation
1870 US CENSUS Trenton, Mercer, NJ (Page 3 house 16).. "George Margenim (or Margarum) 25, teamster,.. Margarett 40,.. James B. Clayton 13, at school."
NOTE: The 1870 Census above does not list Margaret was "wife" just "housekeeping" so it's also possible she was just working there. There is a Margaret Margarum buried in Warwick, Orange NY, who was married to Harry W. Margarum, but that Margaret's maiden name was SMITH.
