St. Louis, June 22.- Driven to desperation by wrongs that can not properly be named in respectable society. Herbert G. Everingham yesterday afternoon shot and mortally wounded Samuel L. Lindsay, his brother-in-law. The shooting occurred about 4:40 p.m. and Lindsay's death at the City Hospital nearly five hours later.
The provocation for this homicide can only be alluded to here. Suffice it to say that Everingham's little 13-year old daughter, Bessie, confessed to her mother yesterday morning that her "Uncle Sam" had, eleven months ago, done her a most cruel wrong and that their relation [letters unreadable]minated a week ago in the administration of medicine that came near causing the child's death.
