Mel Everingham, former college president, dies Sun Lakes, AZ.
"Mel Everingham, a former president of Central AZ College, died July 7 following a stroke. He was 83. Everingham, a Nebraska native, served in the Navy in WWII. For a short time, he served in the same squadron as John F. Kennedy, including a battle where the former President's boat was struck by a ship and cut in two. Three of Kennedy's men were killed and the rest swam to an island and hid until rescue."
