Robert Everingham married Isabel, dau.of John Birkin, and sister and sole heiress of Thomas Birkin, (feudal lords who flourished to nearly the middle of the 13th century) and paid a fine of 200 marks to the crown for livery of her lands, and likewise for livery of the Bailiwick of the forest of Sherwood, that being also part of her inheritance. This Robert held then five knights' fees and a half in the county of Nottingham, and one in Lexinton. He had issue, Adam, his successor; John, to whom his mother gave the manor of Birkin; and Robert, a clergyman, rector of the church of Birkin. He was succeeded by his eldest son, Adam.
