1889 The Glencoe Transcript Newspaper, July 25, 1889.. "Wardsville, July 23, while Jacob Stogdon and James Everingham were picking berries north of the village, the former's attention was drawn to a bush, from which issued the ominous music of a rattlesnake. A shoult for a weapon brought his chum with hasty strides and a cudgel to his side, upon which his snakeship retreats exposing his appendage decorated with no less than fourteen rattles. Jacob thinking discretion the better part of valor, retreats, but James, from confidence in his powers, acquired from long service in the police force, resolved to arrest the crotalus and advanced pistol in hand. Through the smoke , he saw him glide away uninjured."

1907 Obituary:
St. Thomas Daily Times- 6 March 1907, Page #8, AFTER PAINFUL ILLNESS - James Everingham of Rodney, dies at age of 56. James formerly of Wardsville, who has resided here for the last 10 years, died Monday morning after a painful illness. The funeral will take place from the Methodist Church to the Rodney Cemetery this afternoon. Deceased was 56 years of age, and leaves a family of two sons and two daughters and a widow.
